Early Detection Saves Lives: Why Breast Cancer Screening Matters

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in India, and too many cases are found late, when treatment is harder. The good news is that when it is detected early, the chances of successful treatment are much higher. Awareness and regular check-ups are the strongest tools we have.

Why women delay check-ups

  • Hesitation or embarrassment about discussing breast health
  • Believing that 'no pain means no problem'
  • Putting the family's needs before their own health
  • Lack of nearby screening facilities or information

Changes to watch for

Every woman should know what is normal for her own body. See a doctor promptly if you notice any of these changes:

  • A new lump or thickening in the breast or underarm
  • A change in the size or shape of the breast
  • Dimpling, puckering or redness of the skin
  • A nipple that turns inward, or unusual discharge
  • Persistent pain in one area of the breast

Most lumps are not cancer, but only a medical check can tell for sure. Your doctor can advise which screening tests are right for your age and health history.

A few minutes of screening today can protect years of life tomorrow.

Our Breast Cancer Screening & Awareness Program

Through our screening and awareness camps, more than 500 women have been screened and counselled. Our volunteers explain breast health in a friendly, private setting, guide women through the screening process and encourage follow-up care wherever it is needed.

You can help us take these camps to more communities by volunteering, partnering with us or supporting the program. Together, we can make sure no woman misses the chance of early detection.
